The world was united in solidarity and grief following the terrorist attacks in Paris last Friday. It was moving to see St George’s Hall in Liverpool join famous landmarks across the world lighting up in the colours of the French flag to show unity with France. A vigil was also held outside Lime Street station following the attacks. The victims and their loved ones are in my thoughts and my heart goes out to the people of France.

Last week was Armistice Day and the country observed a two minute silence to remember all those who have fought in world conflicts.

On Remembrance Sunday I joined with others from the Wirral community to pay my respects to all the service men and women who have fought in conflicts to defend our country. Many who whom sacrificed their lives for the sake of our country and its civilians. We must never forget what they have done for future generations.

Last Tuesday the Government’s Trade Union bill passed through its third reading. On Friday I spoke at an event in Liverpool to speak out against this bill which I fully oppose. The bill will threaten the right to strike and I know many of my constituents have expressed concerns about these draconian assault on the trade unions. ¬†Labour will continue to show their opposition to this bill and I would urge people to get in touch me with their concerns.

I would also like to take the opportunity this week to advertise an event that the Port Sunlight River Park will be hosting. This is a festive event with Christmas crafts and carols. The event is free to attend and will take place from 12.00-15.00 pm on the 5 December. There will be a small charge for refreshments and activities. The event will take place at the Mersey View picnic area.

The park has played host to some fantastic community events in the last year and I have no doubt that this will another great event for all the family.
