I don’t want to alarm anyone, but it is a mere 12 weeks until Christmas.  I know it only seems like summer ended very recently, but I have been thinking of a festive idea that I would love my constituents to be involved with.

I would like to give the opportunity to any budding photographers in the constituency to take a photograph that I could use as the design for my christmas cards this year.

It would be exciting for me to see the photography talent on offer in Wirral South. The only criteria is that the photograph is taken in Wirral South and has a festive feel to it. It doesn’t need to be snowy, or feature Christmas decorations, just to have a seasonal air.

If you would like to take part in the competition please submit your designs to me by email on alison.mcgovern.mp@parliament.uk or by dropping them into my office at 99 New Chester Road, New Ferry, Wirral, CH62 4RA or by posting them to the same address. Photographs should be submitted by the 24 October.

It’s essential that the person who has taken the photograph is the same  person who submits it.

Last week I visited the Vauxhall plant in Ellesmere Port along with other MPs to see its new generation Astra. It was both a fascinating and a proud day as people living in my constituency are part of team who work at the plant.

Parliament has now entered conference recess following what was a busy few weeks in Westminster with debates on very important topics all of which my constituents have expressed concern to me about including the refugee crisis and the Government’s Trade Union Bill.

I voted against this bill but unfortunately it gained enough support to pass at second reading. I will continue to show my opposition to what I believe to be the biggest attack on trade union members in a generation.

We also got a new leader of the opposition following the vote which seen Jeremy Corbyn become Leader of the Labour Party. Last Friday I addressed an event for Labour supporters in Wirral South and this week I will be in Brighton to attend meetings and events at Labour Party Conference along with Labour politicians and supporters.
