Alison McGovern looks set to be the only candidate in the upcoming general election to hail from Wirral South.
Alison said “I went into politics because until I was 16 I never believed people in Westminster cared about us.”
”I want people from Wirral to go on and do great things and not have to leave our area to get the career they want.”
Alison was a former pupil at Brookhurst Primary and Wirral Girls Grammar School, before graduating from University.
She then worked for Network Rail, other national organisations and was Deputy Leader of a Labour Group before becoming an MP.
Alison works hard to represent our interests, She led campaigning to improve care and support for older people in the borough which resulted in an end to zero hours contracts and better training for staff.
”It is an honour to be Labour’s candidate for Wirral South this May 7th and I look forward to continuing to serve the area where I was born and brought up” said Alison.
The independent website They Work For You cites Alison as one of the hardest working MPs, saying that she speaks in more debates than the average Member of Parliament and asks more questions.
