Wirral South MP challenges government minister about protecting the renewable energy industry

Alison McGovern MP today asked the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Amber Rudd MP about protecting employment in the renewables energy sector.

Ms McGovern’s question follows the Paris Climate Conference also referred to as COP21.

Speaking about her concerns Alison McGovern said “I have been contacted by people in my constituency who are concerned about a lack of support for the renewable energy sector from the government.

She added: “It is a timely issue following the conference in Paris. I want to keep pressing the government on this very important issue and wanted to keep the pressure on the Secretary of State about protecting renewable energy jobs. I have previously raised concerns for a local solar business in my constituency about the Feed-in Tariff consultation the government launched. The government’s rhetoric on climate change unfortunately differs from the reality.”
