Make fair transitional state pension arrangements for 1950’s women

The Government must make fair transitional arrangements for all women born on or after 6th April 1951 who have unfairly borne the burden of the increase to the State Pension Age (SPA). Hundreds of thousands of women have had significant changes imposed on them with a lack of appropriate notification

Goal: 57 signatures

I have been robbed of my state pension. Six years more to wait with under two years notice. Disgusted with the rule changes.

I am a nurse and just about to be made redundant. I am 61 and have been working part time due to some limiting medical problems. I now have to work until I am 66. All the vacancies I have looked at are full time or 12 hour shifts which I am not able to do, I am not hopeful of getting another job. I was so looking forward to retiring at 60 and using my skills for charity work.

I was born in 1954 and will be nearly 66 before I get my pension but only found out around 2 years before reaching retirement age of 60. Now my husband is retiring in December at age 65 and will only get the state pension for himself, we will therefore be losing over £600 a month and I do not get my pension for nearly three years now, my husband is now seriously considering having to work on until I reach retirement age, this is not fair to him and I would think there are a lot more couples in this situation.

I am 62 Worked all my life with plans to retire at 60 only for it to be taken away. I have worked from being 16 years old and contributed all those years and am expected to do it now for another 6 years. I’m a 1950s woman who has lost out on thousands of pounds due to the Gov putting my pensionable age back twice and the second time was too late for me to do anything about it. Now I am penniless relying on my family to help me out

I think it is absolutely unfair that this group of women have had the changes pushed onto them without any redress. I have had to work an additional 3 half years and even though I have 47 qualifying years I still will not get the full new pension. I came into the workplace at 16 and am now 63 most of those years has been full time. How many years do I have to work to get it! I count myself lucky as I was born on 9.04.1953 but people who are born just 6 months later are having to work till they are 66. It is not fair and I really feel strongly about it. It is no good telling people with less than a few years to go as you do not have enough time to do anything. Women are all ready disadvantaged in the workplace, many women I know work in low paid jobs. It is not fair and certainly not equitable. I appreciate that people are living longer but if you give people a fair pension then they can leave their jobs and let the younger people have more job opportunities. I will still be working next year but on reduced hours I enjoy work but I have been a good citizen and paid my way, I do not think it is too much trouble to be expected to helped as I grow older. Come on now fair play! On behalf of us all look at this again!!!!!!!

I was born in November 1954 and looked forward to receiving a State Pension at 60 after working all my adult life only to find it increased from 62 to 66 in a very short time with very little notice. It’s time the government treated women born in the fifties with compassion and fairness.

Thank you for your support. I was born in 1953, worked all my life and had expected my State Pension at 60. It came as a huge blow to find out I would not receive my Pension until November 2016!. having been made redundant in 2011 and looking after my parents this caused tremendous financial stress. The government does not seem to care or even interested in the contracts they have broken with myself and thousands of other women. Lets hope the Waspis campaign will win them over.
