New Port Sunlight Riverside Park will enhance local community

This article is from Alison's weekly column for the Wirral News. This post is from 9th April and can be read on the Wirral News website here

Apart from hoping for decent weather, there is an extra reason to be excited about summer arriving here on the Wirral this year as the Port Sunlight Riverside Park opens to the public.

The project has seen the transformation of the former Bromborough Dock Landfill site being developed into a  public park which will enhance the local community and provide stunning views looking across to Liverpool.

I am very proud of the work that has gone into development so far and I am really looking forward to my constituents being able to experience the benefits in the coming months.

The addition of the park will complement our already beautiful and historic Port Sunlight Village which draws in visitors from outside of the area and it will provide another attraction for visitors in the area as well as residents.

This will be a real positive asset in terms of culture and  wellbeing of the community.

I am proud of how far we have come so far, not least because Tory ministers tried to remove the funding for the development.

It was important for me to make this a reality because of the benefits it will bring and working with partners such as the Land Trust we are almost there.
