Global leading company opens facility in Bromborough

Last Friday I had the pleasure of attending the opening of a new power facility in Bromborough. It has been reallocated from Ellesmere Port and moved to Riverview Business Park.

The facility is ran by ABB which is a global leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility, industry, and transport and infrastructure customers to improve their performance while lowering environmental impact. The ABB Group of companies operates in roughly 100 countries and employs about 140,000 people. They employ around 3,000 people at a number of sites across the UK.

It is very exciting to have a global leading company here in Bromborough and it was very interesting to talk to staff there and have a tour of the new facility whilst hearing about the work that they do. I wish them well with their new base here in Wirral.

Last Friday I also attended an MP’s Question Time event on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and took part in a Q & A panel with representatives from local businesses and Angela Eagle MP.

We are seeing huge cuts to our local police force which need to be reversed. Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Kennedy has now launched a petition ahead of the autumn spending review, making the point that services will be lost if these cuts are allowed to go ahead. The petition can be found here https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/110893

Finally I would just to advertise two meeting that I am holding this week. The Port Sunlight River Park annual general meeting on behalf of the Friends Group will take place tomorrow night at 7PM at the Lyceum in Port Sunlight. It’s an opportunity to thank volunteers and welcome new ones so anyone is welcome to come along. I would ask that you email helen.dodd@parliament.uk in advance.

I am also holding a meeting for those affected by government proposed changes to tax credits which will hit families on the Wirral. This will be held this Friday at 1pm. If you can come along please let me know by also emailing helen.dodd@parliament.uk The venue will be in Wirral South. You can also call my office to confirm attendance to both meetings.
