Last weekend I went along to the New Ferry Fun Day and I’d like to offer my congratulations and thanks to the organisers for putting on this local event.
I was happy to say a few words and offer my support to a very well organised event. It was also great to welcome the Mayor and the Mayoress.
There was a great classic car display and it was a fun day for all ages so well done to all involved.
New Ferry needs a huge amount of TLC, however. A proper regeneration plan is well overdue. I have been working alongside Wirral Council to achieve just this, and I’m not prepared to give up until it’s done.
As we are now in the summer holiday period I am concerned to still be receiving enquiries about delayed passports.
My office is still taking up cases of concern regularly to try to make sure that constituents have their passports in time for their booked holidays.
Obviously this is a stressful situation for constituents and they have been expressing concern to me especially about lack of communication with the passport service.
I will continue to monitor the amount of enquiries I receive and hope the situation improves in the coming weeks so people’s applications are not stuck in the system for longer than necessary.
If you are worried about a passport and you are my constituent then do get in touch with me to let me know about your experience and for me to look into the application to see where it is up to.
Finally as Westminster goes into recess next week I am also looking forward to my tour of Wirral South’s pubs to meet constituents, which hopefully you read about in last week’s column. You can ring my office for details on 0151 645 6590.
