Ahead of the one year anniversary of the Port Sunlight River Park’s opening ceremony in August Alison McGovern MP for Wirral South is pushing for investment in New Ferry.
Speaking about her calls to regenerate the area Alison McGovern MP said: “I am currently involved with the one year anniversary plans for Port Sunlight River Park. In New Ferry we have many great community assets such as the River Park, the New Ferry Butterfly Park, a hugely successful Farmer’s Market and award winning butchers Edge and Son.
“It is very important that we build on these successes by regenerating New Ferry. I know from speaking to my constituents how much they want to see New Ferry become the lively town centre it once was.”
She added: “We have some really positive things going for the area but we do need to build on this and this is why I have been calling for regeneration here since my election and why I have been working alongside people who live and work in the area.
I have met with the council and developers many times to push for regeneration and discussions are ongoing. I know this is a significant issue for local residents and business owners and I will continue to talk to them about their thoughts on the issue.”
